Drive-In Worship Service – March 29th
Dear Church Family,
As you know, our Deacons and I met this past Tuesday night and I am excited to share with you the plans that came out of that meeting.
Per our state government order, we cannot meet in our building as usual for the next 30 days to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
However, after consulting with the guidelines from our governor’s office and contacting Bedford County Health Department, an outdoor worship service is permissible as long as we mind the guideline of 6 feet of social distance!
Therefore….this Sunday, March 29th at 11am we are going to hold a drive-in, parking lot worship service!!
Yesterday afternoon, we tested an outdoor sound system that includes speakers and an FM radio transmitter – that means that you will be able to tune your car’s radio dial to FM 87.7 and listen to the worship service (you may have to turn the volume all the way up).
Also, our parking plan will allow us, if you are so inclined, to bring a folding chair and sit in front of your car – the weather on Sunday is supposed to be warm and beautiful!
This will be a shortened service – we’ll sing 2 hymns (yes, we have a piano hooked up and Lisa is going to play and Bill is going to lead) and we’ll look at a passage from God’s Word together. The service will last probably 45 minutes or less.
We will not be passing a plate like a normal offering, but there will be the opportunity to give tithes and offerings. We will have a table with a collection bucket for drop off as you pull out to leave.
Our building will also be open for use of the restroom facilities – but only 10 at a time may enter the building.
This is a casual outdoor worship service. So come as you are!
I am excited about this opportunity for us as a church family! I know this is different, and not quite as personal and close as our normal fellowship – however it is important for us as a church family to maintain connection and fellowship with each other.
Our plan, for the moment, is to continue to gather for drive-up parking lot worship services through Palm Sunday and Easter, until we are able to gather inside our building together, like normal.
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:23-25
See you Sunday!
